Customer Engagements - Centre of Excellence (CE-CoE) provides an integrated and seamless suite of services to enable Cisco sellers identify, accelerate, and close opportunities. In our Team-of-Teams work environment we help our sellers and partners learn, train, showcase, experience and accelerate their sales using any of our services, including, but not limited to, Bid Management, Events, Technical Writing, Proposals Library, Customer Proof of Concept (CPOC), dCloud, Managed Proof-of-Value (PoV) Services, Customer Experience Centres, Technical Solutions Workshops.
Position Summary
The Engineer will be responsible for the development and execution of a wide range of IoT demonstrations, labs and training content for Cisco internal and Partner audiences. The engineer plans, develops, implements and maintain content with responsibilities including content design, use cases, documentation, ordering, quality assurance, and project communication.
Job Responsibilities
Content Design 20%
Document and plan all projects prior to entering project build phase.
Work with platform and automation teams to review new content and revisions and gain approval.
Candidate must be well versed in the use of standard design templates and tools (Microsoft Office including Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
Specify and document virtual and hardware components as well as automation programs required to deliver a content.
Design content using creative strategies to minimize hardware dependence and optimize virtual appliances for scale.
Content Engineering 40%
Document device connectivity of all components (virtual and hardware) and build as part of pre-work.
Work with the operations team to request any rack, cabling, imaging, access and automation required for the content project.
As part of the development cycle, the developer must work collaboratively with the business unit technical marketing engineers (TME) and product managers (PM) to configure solution components (both physical and virtual),
Work with TME, PM and marketing resources to draft, test and troubleshoot compelling scripts/guides/use case(s) that provide value to the field sales teams and generate high interest and utilization.
Where possible, script a value proposition or story around the Cisco IoT solutions. Previous vertical industry knowledge and/or experience is a plus.
Work as the liaison to the operations team to resolve issues identified during the development and testing process, providing technical support and making design recommendations for fixes.
Provide schematics/diagrams, as required, of design concepts aiding in the build and troubleshooting.
Perform content resource study using VMware vCenter to ensure an optimal balance of performance, efficiency and stability before promoting/publishing production content.
Work as both 3rd party liaisons and as independent content developer
Add unique applications and unique automation scripts to dCloud content to improve scalability. Design reusable components, frameworks and libraries
Project Management 15%
Identify and prioritize all project related tasks. Ability to organize, strategize and communicate project goals, objectives and tasks at all levels of the organization. Ensuring that all 3rd party developers on assigned projects are reporting status effectively.
Work with the IoT project manager to develop a timeline with high expectations to meet project deadlines.
Multitask between multiple content projects, user support, training events, etc
Successfully collaborate and work with a globally disperse team using collaboration tools such as email, instant messaging (Cisco Jabber), and other collaboration methods (Webex Teams, WebEx Meetings and teleconferencing)
Support 15%
Provide transfer of information and technical support to level 1 & 2 support engineers, program managers and others ensuring that new content is understood and in working order.
Test and replicate issues, isolate the root cause, and provide quick workarounds and/or short/long term fixes.
Monitor any support trends for assigned content. Track and log escalations effectively.
Provide level 3 user support directly to Cisco and Partner systems engineers.
Other 10%
Work with the dCloud IoT Manager and business development team to market, train and increase global awareness of new/revised content releases.
Support peer development engineers as required.
Attend meetings and other responsibilities as assigned. Ability to travel to unfamiliar world-wide Cisco offices and work effectively under time constraints and other job pressures
Minimum Requirement, Skills & Attributes
Demonstrated knowledge of networking and of the Cisco IOS, including the latest code revisions, upgrading/downgrading firmware and the CLI
Foundation knowledge across all Cisco technologies including Collaboration, Data Centre, and Security is highly recommended
Ability to transfer files using FTP, TFTP, USB, Flash Drives to image servers; to install VMware, virus protection, Cisco Security software
Demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting Layers 1 through 7 of the OSI model as well as of SSH, HTTP(S) and VPN in a Cisco environment
Basic web development and scripting preferred
Experience of working with APIs preferred
High level of accountability demonstrated by a willingness to take responsibility for achieving results that have a clear positive impact on the business
Familiar with working with team mates in multiple locations in an Agile/SCRUM environment.
Ability to travel (approx. 10% travel) to Cisco internal and partner events, roadshows, etc. to train and raise awareness to drive dCloud adoption
Bachelors degree, or Computer Science/ Software Engineering degree or related work experiences a strong plus.

Preferred Skills
Virtualization
o Demonstrated good experience using VMware workstation or vCenter, ESXi, vSphere
o Experience building and optimizing Virtual Machine (VMs)
Routing and Switching
o Experience installing/configuring/troubleshooting Cisco networking equipment
o Experience installing/configuring/troubleshooting services including VPNs, LANs and VLANs, Trunking, Firewalls, ACLs
Industry protocols
o Experience installing/configuring industry networking devices a plus
o Familiarity with industry protocols (CIP, PTP, SCADA, EthernetIP, PROFIBUS, Modbus / Modbus TCP, PROFINET, etc.) strongly recommended
Security
o Exposure to Cisco Industrial Security Appliance (ISA 3000), Cisco Identity Services Engine (Client) and StealthWatch suite a plus
o Experience securing the network with security appliances, including ACLs, object groups, AAA, state-full inspection, LDAP, etc. a plus
Programming and Automation
o Knowledge of Java, Apache Tomcat, Java Server Pages, Servlets a plus
o Knowledge of Python, bash, batch, node.js, Powershell, XML, JSON
o Experience of creating user interface web pages and graphical components a plus
o Knowledge of SQL, MYSQL a plus
Certifications
o Cisco Certification including CCNA or CCNA Specializations is recommended
o Other Industry Certifications are a plus but not required. Here are some examples:
