Mandatory experience - Payroll


Position Summary:
The payroll accountant is responsible for processing assigned payroll timely and accurately. Position perform all functions associated with the processing of designated payroll by established due date in accordance with NSU and state procedures. Reconcile miscellaneous deductions and tax liability accounts. Advise and council employees on payroll related issues, asset payroll manager and controller as requested. Ability to work independently, problem solving constantly. Ability to perform specialized technical work, which requires ability to interpret policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Process designed payroll;
  • Analyze all HR documentation receive against CIPPS record for accuracy.
  • Update employee tax information, direct deposit for completion. Notify employee if missing or incorrect forms.
  • Communicate with human resource representation for missing documentation.
  • Accurately calculate all withholding order based on federal and state laws.
  • Assist employees with leave inquires.
  • Assist payroll manager with internal audit requirements.
  • Respond and resolve all payroll inquires in a timely manner.
  • Calculate and process all separated employees last payment and leave payout as required. Terminated employees.
  • Process semi-monthly and bi-weekly journal entries by designated due date. Work with Client to ensure file has been download. Process and post journal entries to financial system with 5 days or payroll certification.
  • Administer short term disability payment and leave adjustment each pay period.
  • Assist with Kronos time keeping system as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum 3 years processing payroll.
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or related areas or any equivalent combination of education and experience in Finance, accounting or related fields.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented, ability to multi task in fast faced work environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • Proficient using MS Office product Suite.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • MUST HAVE PAYROLL EXPERIENCE
