Job Description
This position is responsible for accurate and timely processing, record and reconcile transactions including but not limited to local, deferral and state funds, accounts payable, payroll and grant financial transactions for Thomas Nelson Community College. Prepares financial statements and other related schedules. Prepares financial reports involving the compilation and analysis of fiscal data and proper classification for reporting purposes. Works with grant program manager to track, audit, reconcile and report on grants; performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications -Required \
experienced accountant who is proficient in balance sheet account reconciliation, journal entries, fluctuation analysis, etc
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs); competencies required to successfully perform the work
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and the ability to interpret and implement federal, state, local and VCCS policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Knowledge and experience in preparing financial statements and reports.
  • Experience and knowledge of current computerized software applications for personal computers.
  • Knowledge and experience in reconciling complex accounting records.
  • Strong organizational skills along with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize work in a multitasking environment, manage time, and be adaptable to changing needs and frequent interruptions.
Ability to operate a computer to include word processing and spreadsheet software.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification required for entry into position:
Experience with automated accounting systems and performing detailed work with numerical and statistical data. Experience working with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and governmental accounting policies and procedures. Experience using electronic systems to record information in various systems.

B.S in Accounting/Business Administration with a concentration in accounting and/or experience in fund accounting in a higher education environment is preferred
