Duration: 9-12 weeks with 37.5hours per week. 

QUALIFICATIONS
• 48 college hours preferred
• High school diploma required
• If having less than 48+ college hours, passing score on the Para Professional Assessment of Knowledge is required
• Ability to be organized, creative, independent and self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, detailed-oriented and driven by
excellence required
• Excellent communication skills both oral and written required
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school instructional and support staff,
and District staff required
• Ability to adjust tasks and focus with composure in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities required
• Ability to be flexible and receptive to change required
• Demonstrated knowledge of Fort Bend Independent School District public school mission, goals and organization required
• Ability to manage student behavior required
• Ability to utilize multi-media equipment and materials and computer technology required

JOB GOAL:
In the absence of the instructional aide, the Instructional Aide Substitute will assist students by performing related tasks and
supporting classroom instruction under the direct supervision of the teacher, building administrator or appropriate supervisor.
Follow the instructions provided by the instructional aide or classroom teacher to provide an effective and appropriate
educational program for assigned students. Provide instructional support and reinforce previously taught skills to students in a
variety of settings, including whole group, small group, and one-on-one.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Follow the instructions provided by the instructional aide and/or classroom teacher to provide an effective and appropriate
educational program for assigned students
• Assist with maintaining discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff
in accordance with school policy
• Continue as much as possible the routines and procedures for the school, classroom, and students to which assigned
• Assist with establishing and maintaining a sanitary, safe, orderly, attractive and positive learning environment for learning
• Report to office upon arrival and before leaving school; request clarification of school rules and procedures
• Maintain confidentiality of student information
• Provide feedback to teacher or instructional aide; Include comments on the behavior of students, lessons completed and any
possible changes in lesson plans
• Uphold all district policies, rules and procedures to which regular instructional aides are subject
• Determine if his/her services will be required for the next school day
• Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon
as is reasonably possible
• Perform other duties as assigned

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed generally in a classroom environment and other locations within and outside the school building such as
cafeteria, playground, library, etc. The position requires standing, walking, sitting and lift/carrying work related items weighing
under 25 pounds such as papers, books and instructional supplies. Substitutes are instructed to request assistance when
lifting/carrying heavy items and when climbing is necessary to prepare displays, bulletin boards, etc. Work requires sufficient
mobility to move about the classroom and inside and outside the school building. Work environment may be noisy. Work may
involve exposure to student body fluids and disease conditions. Work may require exposure to student maladaptive behavior.
Work involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment and performing
job duties.
