Position : Solutions/Systems Architect
Location: Lanham, MD
Client : Federal


The Candidate should have the below qualifications and skill sets:

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in presenting complex strategic and technical choices based on available data to assist stakeholders in making decisions in current-state IRS systems, specifically IRS's submission processing systems.
  • Engage and collaborate with delivery partners across functional and organizational boundaries including the Enterprise PMO (EPMO), Application Development (AD), Enterprise Operations (EOps), Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture (EA), Enterprise Systems Testing (EST), and the Business Divisions (LB&I, W&I, SB/SE, TE/Client, etc.) in development and evolution of architecture and design.
  • Designs and develops system architectures and defines key capabilities and performance requirements in alignment with IRS Strategy, objectives and technology roadmaps.
  • Evaluate a broad range of systems and technologies through analyses of alternatives (AoAs), operational analyses (OAs) of business systems, and proofs of concepts (POCs) and recommend products and technologies for system modernization.
  • Define and implement software architecture design patterns to meet performance, scalability, extensibility and maintainability requirements.
  • Participate in agile technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems and seeks customer feedback.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical field and a minimum of 5 years related technical experience.
  • Active IRS Moderate Risk Background Investigation (MBI) clearance or ability to obtain an IRS MBI clearance.
  • Experience with one or more of applications including but not limited to Administration Systems, Individual Master File (IMF), Customer Account Data Engine 2 (CADE2), Integrated Enterprise Portal (IEP), Return Review Program (RRP)
  • Experience with system modernization and application delivery.
  • Familiarity with some or all of the following technologies: Linux (RHEL, etc.), DB2, Assembler Language Code (ALC), COBOL 74, ALC Macros, Job Control Language (JCL), SQL & NoSQL, Java, XML, JSON, Attachmate INFOConnect, Customer Information Control System (CICS), DocIT, Endevor, , IBM Rational Clear Case, Clear Quest, Doors Next Generation (DNG), Informatica, JBoss, Job Control Language (JCL), ServiceNow.

Desired qualifications:

  • Knowledge of security best practices and information risk management practices.
  • Applicable industry certifications. .
  • Experience with the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM)/Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) suite of tools
