General Description:
Under direct supervision of the Manager, Pension Benefits, the Associate Pension Analyst is responsible for preparing basic benefit calculations and updating the member files when a death is reported. The Associate Pension Analyst is responsible for processing pension benefits and refunds.
Job Requirements:
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform the review of incoming refund applications and required documentation.
- Terminate members in the system when a death is reported.
- Calculate benefits and process pension benefits and refunds in a timely manner.
- Conduct peer review of Documentation and Eligibility and Control Reports.
- Review disability applications and documentation.
- Perform the beneficiary research and mail death benefit applications.
- Audit all returned documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Communicate with members and beneficiaries to obtain required documentation.
- Evaluate implications of legal documentation such as trusts, estates, and Powers of Attorney (POA) in the processing of benefits.
- Adhere to plan provisions, policies, and procedures in workload management and benefits processing.
- Reprint member statements upon request.
- Assist department management and team on various projects as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Time management skills.
- Ability to perform effective research.
- Customer service and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Bachelor's Degree and additional courses or seminars related to benefits administration.
- Related experience preferred.
- Lifting and moving up to five pounds occasionally.
- Sitting for long periods of time; some standing and repetitive physical activity.
- This job operates in a professional office environment, consisting of regular conversation, business machines (copies, printers, etc.), and telephones.
