Overview:
The Science Museum of Virginia, the Commonwealth's flagship institution for informal science education, seeks a Procurement Officer I to assist the museum's full-time Procurement Officer in coordinating and administering the museum's procurement functions in accordance with the Virginia Public Procurement Act (VPPA ), the Agency Procurement and Surplus Property Manual (APSPM ), and other State procurement directives and initiatives. This position will assist the Procurement Officer in facilitating and implementing best practices for the areas of purchasing and procurement. Responsibilities include reviewing/approving purchase requests submitted through the statewide procurement system known as eVA, entering purchase orders in eVA, and assisting end users with their sourcing needs. The individual will also assist the museum's Chief Procurement Officer in providing training to museum staff in small purchase procedures and preparing procurement related reports. The duties of this position require significant collaboration and teamwork across the organization and a willingness to support critical mission activities in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Qualifications :
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles & practices of Virginia State governmental procurement procedures and practices, policies and procedures contained in the Division of Procurement Services (DPS ) Agency Procurement & Surplus Property Manual, contracting procedures, The Virginia Public Procurement Act and other related procurement laws and regulations. Proficiency in the use of personal computers and related word processing & spreadsheet software is required. A demonstrated ability to interpret and apply Procurement policies and procedures and the ability to analyze contract data and compile reports. A VCA certification through the Virginia Institute of Procurement is required. A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field combined with a strong commitment to service delivery are also required.
