Certified Nursing Assistant: The Contractor shall provide CNAs to perform all duties in the delivery of Comprehensive Behavioral Health nursing services including, but not limited to:
1. Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. § Shall provide services on an as needed basis as requested by the Chief Nurse Executive or Designee.
§ Shall maintain and safeguard the confidentiality of patient records in a manner consistent with patient/client welfare and in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
2. Previous work experience in geriatric and/or psychiatric work environment (preferred).
3. Shall possess the ability to provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed staff.
4. Shall have the ability to follow instructions and report observations of bio-psychosocial needs and behaviors to licensed nurses in a timely manner.
5. Attends all mandatory training as assigned.
6. Shall provide evidence, on an annual basis, of a current Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) reading or evaluation if known PPD reactor.
7. Shall possess skills in providing direction and assistance to patients in activities of daily living.
8. Shall possess a working knowledge of developmental and psychiatric disorders.
9. Demonstrate competencies as defined per the facility's competency assessment plan.
10. Shall hold current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and shall submit evidence of certification.
11. Must be able to work shift work, weekends, and holidays as determined by the Chief Nurse Executive or designee.
12. Observe, report, document changes in the patient's physical and behavioral status, vital signs, weight, height, ADLs, and other data as assigned, to the RN Charge Nurse in a timely and accurate manner.
13. Utilize therapeutic interventions that reflect knowledge of growth and development, TOVA and behavioral principles.
14. Escort patients to other departments, meals and outside of hospital per protocols and procedure.
15. Keeps accurate and timely records for the development of behavioral interventions
16. Actively participates in the implementation of behavioral guidelines.
17. Perform assignments according to policy and procedures related to duties of 1:1 and special observation. Follows policies and procedures related to searching, inventorying, labeling, and maintaining of patient clothing and belongings.
18. Follows and completes assignments in timely manner. Reports on assignments to Registered Nurse, as required.
19. Initiate and participate in activities that improve patient care, as directed.
20. Accurately completes required documentation within established time frames (ADL notes, ADL flow sheets and TARs).
21. Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers as assigned.
22. Should have some familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE).
23. Must perform general clerical duties to support client record keeping and clinical operations.
24. Shall be able to demonstrate operation of standard office equipment (e.g. fax machines, copiers, phone systems, computers).
25. Should have experience with data and word processing applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite-Excel, Word, etc.).
26. Shall speak, understand, read and write the English language fluently.
27. Shall immediately notify the Nursing Director or designee if license is denied, suspended or revoked; if any professional disciplinary action is taken; or if the Provider has any physical, mental or emotional problems which might impact performance of assigned duties.
