The Radiologic Technologist is a professional Licensed California Radiologic Technologist under the general supervision of the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging and performs a variety of duties in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, fractures and medical abnormalities on patients/residents per physician's orders. Ability to perform imaging examinations in all modalities with proficiency. It is the responsibility of this individual to follow all federal and state regulations, rules and laws applicable to Diagnostic Imaging services and Critical Access hospitals.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

· Understands and performs the duties of a Radiologic Technologist

· Understands the complexities of imaging equipment in all modalities, i.e., radiology and CT

· Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational and safety related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patient served.

· Demonstrates knowledge of positioning patients for optimal results

· Able to perform duties with minimal supervision

· Demonstrates verbal and written skills

· Ability to perform duties under adverse conditions

· Demonstrates ability to consistently produce quality images

· Ability to organize self, equipment and supplies in an efficient manner

· Ability to react quickly and efficiently in emergency situations

· Ensures all areas are properly stocked with supplies

· Demonstrates self-reliance, resourcefulness and accepts responsibility

· Assists the Manager, Medical Staff, patients/residents, peers and coworkers in an appropriate and efficient manner

· Demonstrates ability to change priorities on short notice

· Ability to maintain and access proper documentation, records and files for all modalities

· Maintain strict patient/resident confidentiality

· Participates in ensuring that the Diagnostic Imaging Services department is in compliance of all federal and state regulations

· Observes all departmental and hospital policies and procedures

· Assists with answering phones and patient scheduling

· Maintains safe working conditions

· Ability to react quickly and efficiently in case of equipment breakdown (calling repairman, notifying medical staff, etc.)

· Monitor equipment and report to the Manager if problem is suspected or occurs

· Observes all equipment safety standards (weight limits, etc.)

· Provides care appropriate to the age of the patient/resident being served

· Evaluates for appropriate behavior, motor skills and physiologic norms

· Assesses for signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect

· Assesses need for safety measures, i.e., ability to stand without help, ability to transfer without help, etc.

· Adjusts contrast media appropriately for different age groups

· Uses shielding appropriate for age group and exam

· Remains flexible to the needs of the facility regarding staffing patterns (holidays, weekends, and/or call time). Actively participates in the resolution of staffing conflicts as the need arises

· Demonstrates effective communication methods and skills in all areas of practice using lines of authority appropriately

· Responsible for sharing call and work schedule equally within the department as assigned and scheduled

· Participates as necessary and/or required in CQI monitoring as indicated

· Consistently works within scope of practice as set forth by the California State Board of Radiology

· Other duties as assigned

5. Qualifications:

a) Graduate of a Accredited Radiology Program, with Associate of Science Degree

b) Current California Certified Radiologic Technologist Licensure (CRT)

c) American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) preferred

d) Two years experience in an Acute Care setting is preferred

e) Experience in at least two modalities

f) Experience in a freestanding diagnostic imaging facility may be substituted for Acute Care experience

g) BLS Certification required
