Responsibilities:
• Deliver 6-10 instructional hours per week in a Tyson facility teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and/or English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses for frontline team members
• Develop instructional materials associated with courses taught
• Attend Upward Academy partner meetings
• Attend all faculty meetings and trainings
• Participate in recruitment events and culminating activities
• Maintain program records, administer testing, and complete grading as needed
Required Qualifications:
• Knowledge of teaching strategies and methods, including grammar, reading, writing, and listening/speaking
• Demonstrated fluency in English, including excellent written and oral communication skills necessary for teaching English language learners
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in English, education, or related field
• TESOL certificate
• Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in adult ESL education
• Strong classroom management, organizational, and planning skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise directions and explanations
• Proficiency in a second language
• English for Specific Purposes (ESP) experience (e.g., Economics, Business, Computers, Engineering, etc.)
• Cross-cultural sensitivity
• Excellent technology application skills and experience
• Strong interpersonal skills
Time Commitment:
• Total hours per week: 7-15 hours, including instructional time, 30 minutes of prep time for every 2 hours of instruction, recruitment and culminating events, trainings, and regular partner meetings.
• Contract length: 14 weeks (renewable contract)
