Services to be performed include, but not limited to, performing own billing and coding, conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, behavioral assessments and individualized treatment plans, provide evidence based psychotherapy, behavioral interventions and supportive counseling, document assessments and interventions, document assessments and interventions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) following federal, state, and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)
documentation standards, independently manage billing for all services (Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance), offer staff training on behavioral management, dementia-related behaviors and resident support strategies, maintain full compliance with New York State laws, CMS regulations, facility protocols and HIPAA, coordinate with the Medical Director on behavioral health strategies, care quality and consultation need, support the SNF's mission of delivering evidence-based resident-centered care and maintain all required licensure and malpractice coverages.
Psychology services are performed as required for resident/registrant care. The successful Contractor's capability and performance must be in compliance with and in conformance to the standards/codes/specifications of New York State Department of Health Guidelines an Federal, State and Municipal regulations and codes, including HIPAA. Additionally, the successful Contractor will be responsible for learning and adhering to the Home's requirements.
A Physician may bill a resident's third-party insurance carrier directly only if the resident does not meet the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) definition of a "prevailing rate resident.” For residents who fall under the VA definition of a prevailing rate resident, the
physician may not bill the resident's third-party insurance directly. In such cases, the physician must bill the nursing home/facility directly, payment shall be made by the facility at the current Medicare Physician Fee Schedule rate, and no other provider may bill separately for the same services rendered to that resident. All providers and billing personnel must ensure compliance with these requirements to avoid improper billing practices.
Contractor(s) must have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in psychology services. Preferred: Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and must have a minimum of two (2) years of psychology service experience in clinical, skilled nursing, long-term care or geriatric populations. Familiarity with CMS and NYS DOH regulatory and documentation requirements, familiarity with dementia care, neurocognitive conditions and behavioral health management in medically complex patients and demonstrate proficiency in assessment, psychotherapy and behavioral interventions.
