Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary mental health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive psychiatric care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and medication management for diverse patient populations. Your expertise will help improve mental health outcomes and support patients' journey toward wellness. Duties

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, including patient history, mental status examinations, and diagnostic evaluations using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, therapy options, and behavioral health interventions aligned with best practices.
  • Prescribe and manage medications such as antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, and other psychotropic agents following HIPAA guidelines and clinical protocols.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care.
  • Provide telehealth consultations to expand access to mental health services across diverse settings.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, medication adherence, lifestyle modifications, and coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with legal standards such as ICD-10 coding and CPT coding for billing purposes.

Skills

  • Proven experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with Athenahealth is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology principles and medication management techniques.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and mental health assessments efficiently.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including children, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those in assisted living or hospice settings.
  • Skilled in crisis intervention techniques such as triage and acute pain management in emergency or urgent care environments.
  • Familiarity with medical procedures like venipuncture, IV infusion, suturing, spinal tap procedures, and sterile processing techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant healthcare laws including Workers' Compensation law and HIPAA compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient education, case management, discharge planning, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments such as hospital medicine units (ICU experience preferred), outpatient clinics, or inpatient psychiatric units. Minimum Qualifications
NP License is required
Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA).

Additional Considerations
Experience working in a Corrections or Law enforcement environment
Experience working with mental health patients
Experience in acute care and/or community health settings
