SUMMARY: The Accounts Payable Clerk is r esponsible for processing accounts payable invoices for all WHA funds including Low Income Public Housing, Tax Credit programs, Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8), Capital Programs, ROSS and all federal, city and state government programs. Compiles all information necessary to process vendor payments in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepares bank deposits and reconciles and uploads bank deposits.
- Generate residents rent from Low Income Public Housing and Tax Credit programs.
- Generates reports on accounts receivable (rents).
- Provide administrative assistance to accountants and Director of Finance.
- Process accounts payable batches for residents from Low Income Public Housing and Tax Credit programs. Upload data into the computer system and verifies each item for proper documentation to include purchase order, invoice and receiving ticket.
- Ensures that accounts are paid in accordance with deadlines.
- Contacts vendors to ensure proper credit to accounts.
- Computes discounts when given by the vendor.
- Maintains accurate records and files.
- Prepares and reconciles vendor statements and answers questions from vendors regarding accounts payable.
- Generates reports on accounts payable status on monthly basis.
- Performs varied accounting clerical work.
- Makes mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.
- Provides a variety of clerical support.
- Assists with other Finance duties and special projects.
- Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices.
- Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role. Attend training to further develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.

- Timely and accurate payroll processing and reporting at or above 98%.
- Timely and accurate banking and bank reconciliations.
- Follow-up on all inquiries within one business day.
- Timely and accurate preparation of payables at or above 98%

CUSTOMER SERVICE:
- Provide responsive, professional, and diplomatic customer service.
- Answer customer calls and correspondence quickly and pleasantly.
- Communicate with internal customers and residents in a friendly, professional, and patient manner.
- Perform all duties with the goal of building and maintaining long-term relationships.
- Immediately address any internal customers and residents' concerns and request the involvement of other personnel as required. Notify manager of any major concerns and the action taken to resolve.
- Use and promote safe work practices in the office and in the field.
- Follow all company safety programs and report any non-compliance to your manager.
- Notify manager or safety personnel of any unsafe conditions.
- No supervisory responsibilities
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Associates Degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
- Understanding of GAAP and working knowledge of accounting system software.
- 4 to 5 years accounting experience with housing organization preferred.
- Expertise with 365 MS Office Suite
- Systems, Applications and Products in data processing (SAP)

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, board members, residents, internal and external customers and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
