Position: Network Engineer
Location: Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.
Duration Full Time

for a position located in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. This position will support U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC), including ATEC HQ and Aberdeen Test Center. This exciting program focuse on comprehensive IT support of the Army's Test and Evaluation (T&E) mission, whose ultimate goal is deliver the best tools to our warfighters! · About the Job:
· The successful candidate will perform the following duties:
· - Under general direction, support the design, planning, installation, maintenance and monitoring of the organization's local area network
· - Manage projects, which may include: evaluation of vendor products, providing cost estimates and cost justifications, preparing presentations for management, interfacing with procurement staff and project execution
· - Execute hardware, software and/or communications project implementation and provide technical leadership, as needed, to peers and lower level staff
· - Monitor network performance through traffic analysis and maintains network security compliance to adhere to Army and DoD accreditation standards
· - Perform system and server software upgrades within regulated time constraints to mitigate vulnerabilities
· - Diagnose, repair, and document resolutions to network problems
· - Establish and implements network policies, procedures and standards, and ensures their conformance with organizational objectives and Army/DoD requirements
· - Ensure compliance with Army/DoD security policy and local policies and procedures
· - Prepare training documentation and assist users through the use of new software or web applications for network access and monitoring (i.e. VPN client software, security applications, etc.)
· - Work inside or outside depending on the task. This may include working in field conditions subject to hot and cold extreme temperatures and other outdoor climatic conditions (~25%)
· - Uses personal protective equipment (PPE), as required
· - May need to work in areas where only portable restroom facilities are available (~25%)
· - Work in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure to meet deadlines associated with the completion of a task
· - Work multiple task efforts and balance workload
· - Travel periodically for specific task-related functions as well as to obtain training necessary for this position
· - May be required to drive automotive equipment, forklifts, and transport other equipment
· - Keeps responsible Government personnel informed about matters covered during meetings and information provided and received
· - Coordinates with others to assure all safety, security, environmental and community concerns are adequately addressed
· - May have responsibilities as the contractor Networking Team Leader
· - Maintains in good standing, all Army/DoD required training and/or certifications required by the position
· Minimum Qualifications:
· - BA/BS in electrical engineering, computer science or related field (May substitute 2 addl. years experience for an AA degree; 4 addl. years experience for no degree)
· - 5+ years of experience performing network management of Cisco equipment
· - Must have experience with Cisco switches, routers and firewall/VPN
· - Must have Comptia Security+ CE certification and Cisco CCNA certification
· - Must possess, or be able to obtain and retain, a Secret-level security clearance w/SSBI background check
· - Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
· - Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, as required
· Preferred Qualifications:
· - Prefer experience with Bluecoat Proxy Web Filter, DNS/DHCP server configuration and management, log server management, IPv6 configuration, and Windows Active Directory and server certificates
- Prefer experience with Cisco VoIP, VTC, and wireless equipment
