Job Description

Provides quality comprehensive nutritional care to patients by maintaining appropriate and accurate nutritional documentation in accordance with CMS, OBRA, TJC, state and hospital policies in Geriatrics and Adult Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR). Maintains a liaison with medical and nursing personnel in order to enhance the effectiveness of the nutritional treatment of patients. Monitors quality of care through ongoing quality improvement. Assists in menu planning and nutritional analysis as needed. Actively support agency SWaM Procurement goals and Executive Order 20 (2014); and where possible promote SWaM through agency outreach events. Support the intent of the EO20 and the goals of the Agency Swam Plan.

This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency, pandemic, or facility need. All ESH positions are required to work different shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays, and/or overtime as requested.
Knowledge: Basic Knowledge of the principles and practices of nutrition and dietetics; of the regulations and standards governing the nutrition programs; and of the principles of supervision and program planning.

Skills: Must be able to write legibly, type and have a basic understanding of word processing.

Abilities: Demonstrated ability to perform nutritional assessment, evaluation and planning. Ability to plan programs: coordinate with staff and interdisciplinary teams. Must be void of legal blindness. In addition, performing the essential functions of this position requires prolonged sitting, manual dexterity on keyboard; bending, stooping routine lifting of 50 pounds or 25% of body weight (whichever is less); visual acuity to use computer software.

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in nutrition, dietetics or health related program.
Special licenses, registration, or certification: Completion and maintenance of the requirements for being a Registered Dietitian (RD) as established by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).
